Square foot gardening goes big time….

A great little article just showing up in one of the local papers. I was aware that pictures were being taken during one of the SFG workshop classes and I even had a 10 minute interview after class was over. But a week later, I was told that it didn’t turn out so I thought this was a bust. Earlier tonight I got a message from a friend telling me that it was out. Anyway, you can find it here…..[ois skin=”below post”]

Photos turned out great. See a photo with me and my son listening to you. Just got back from Florida and just finished making our 5 boxes. What do you think I should be planting now. Is it too late for lettuces? Any advice would be great.

In Utah, I would wait another week until you go full-throttle with putting everything in your garden. But for now, you can certainly plant all your produce type of things-lettuce varieties, swiss chard, spinach, and radishes. The last two items are getting close to being too late but you should be able to sneak them in. Don’t forget-you know how to protect your gardens now in both hot and cool weather-with shade cloth and plastic-to do anything you want. If you want to grow lettuce all summer you use your shade cloth and extra water. Other things like beets, carrots, potatoes are good to grow in the garden right now. After next week it all can go in-peppers, tomatoes, squash, herbs, etc.

Thanks Jim. The kids and I would love to see your garden one of these days. What city do you live in.
