sfg workshop prep 330This class will begin with the bare-bone basics of gardening and the need-to-know basics of square foot gardening.  It won’t have quite the depth that comes with the previous and mandatory 2 hour course but it will certainly get you going.  You’ll need to bring a notepad and pencil, along with a pair of gardening gloves.  We’ll put together a box, make Mel’s mix, put together a grid, cover the basic planting spacings, and then discuss crop rotation.  We’ll also be spending additional time on composting, protection, and best of all vertical gardening.  The most difficult piece of square foot gardening is learning how to attach the netting to the towers.  As I have no way to process a credit card, payment needs to be with cash or check and I’ll need a minimum of 5 attendees. These are a lot of work to set up and prepare for.  Please register so I’ll know how many people I need to arrange for seating.  Also leave an email address and cell phone number in case I need to contact you to postpone a class due to inclement weather.  The charge is $35 per person.  If you’ve got a neighborhood or other large group we can do that as well.  It’s almost time to get your summer gardens planted before it’s too late.  You’ll love attending this class.
